Tom Abinanti is running for re-election to the New York State Assembly in the 92nd District – which includes the Towns of Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant.

Tom Abinanti is an independent, issue-oriented Democrat. He stands up for what’s right no matter who is on the other side – a political leader, a government official or the powerbrokers in Albany.

Tom Abinanti is a dedicated, forceful, common sense assemblyman and practicing attorney. He brings extensive experience in the legislative process, a real understanding of our community and a deep concern for our quality of life.

Tom Abinanti has had a dramatic, positive impact on Westchester ‘s quality of life. He’s been a strong voice for our suburban communities – a leader in bettering education, preserving our environment, promoting gun safety, protecting women’s rights and advocating for people with special needs. As a father of two, he knows the need for good, quality schools. He has consistently battled to control Westchester’s high property taxes and knows that state action is needed to help reduce them.

As a Westchester County Legislator for 19 years, Tom Abinanti led the way in preserving hundreds of acres for parks and open space and spearheaded landmark legislation on clean air and clean water. He authored new laws that reformed Westchester’s gun regulations and cleaned up the trash industry. He was instrumental in establishing the Westchester Medical Center as an independent public benefit corporation.

Tom Abinanti served as Majority Leader of the Westchester Legislature and chaired numerous committees. He had been previously elected Greenburgh Town Councilman, served as Legislative Counsel to a member of Congress, as staff Counsel to various NYS Assembly committees and as Prosecuting Attorney for the Villages of Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry. He also represented the Greenburgh Housing Authority and the Westchester Coalition for Legal Abortion (pro bono).

Tom Abinanti lived in Greenburgh for 37 years and now lives in Pleasantville with his wife Janet and son Justin.
